Mazda has Boldly Created Their First Fully-Electric SUV

Though we don’t have all the facts yet, the brand new all-electric 2021 Mazda MX-30 SUV is shaping up to be one of the most interesting SUV Crossovers on the market. Mazda has continuously led the charge when it comes to innovation and excitement in the auto market today, and the MX-30 SUV will push boundaries again.

Introducing the Brand New MX-30 Electric SUV

Making its stand out debut at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Show, this subcompact crossover has a front-mounted electric motor, making it Mazda’s first foray into a fully electric vehicle. While it’s difficult to shake the image of an SUV as anything other than a soccer shuttle, Mazda’s design language has once again brought a competitive look and feel to its SUV. Rest assured that like other Mazda creations, this vehicle will feature some of the best safety ratings and fiercest designs on the market today. At a price point much less than its competitors, Mazda is here to draw a line in the sand.

Mazda MX-30: Drivetrain & Performance Details

Although details have been tough to find, we know this crossover SUV will offer a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and a front-mounted motor. Coupled with 141 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, this is shaping up to be an environmentally friendly option without sacrificing the power you’d expect out of a modern SUV.

With an electric car, many drivers wonder what happens when the vehicle run out of juice. Not to worry, because Mazda has stated that with the use of its 50 kW rapid charger, the battery can regain around 80 percent of its charge in around 30 to 40 minutes, getting you back up and running in no time.

The MX-30 Might Be More Environmentally Friendly Than Expected

As a part of Mazda’s foray into the electric market they are going the extra mile to help the environment. Mazda has taken the time and consideration to use sustainable material where possible, so the 2021 MX-30 features recycled plastic and leatherette for the door trims and seats, as well as a cork-lined tray finish on the center console, continuing to make strides in the right direction.

2021 Mazda MX-30: Release Date & Pricing

Though we do not have an exact release date from the manufacturer, the rumor is sometime as early as 2021. Pricing is estimated to start at around $34,000, making it almost $10,000 less than its BMW i3 counterpart. If you are on the market for something sleek, powerful, and environmentally friendly, the Mazda MX-30 will be the vehicle to watch.
